Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery of Ohio is the premier facility for veterinary dentistry in Ohio, owned and operated by Jamie Berning, DVM, DAVDC. When we opened in January 2021, we were home to the only Board-Certified Veterinary Dentist in Ohio. Today, we remain Ohio’s only privately owned, dentistry specialty practice. We work with a team of anesthesiologists remotely for every case at our practice, which allows for best medicine and provides learning opportunities for our team.

FACILITIES

We are proud to have an onsite a VetCAT cone-beam CT as well as Sopix sensors for dental radiographs. We have multiple piezosurgical units and VetTomes, and we have designed the layout of our practice to provide a relaxed, fear-free atmosphere for our patients and clients.

Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery of Ohio is seeking a full-time Dentistry and Oral Surgery Resident to join our growing specialty practice in Columbus, Ohio. We are the only privately owned veterinary dental specialty practice in the state, offering a unique opportunity to train in a highly specialized environment.

Job Title: Resident in Veterinary Dentistry
Type: Full-time
Clinic Hours: Monday – Thursday, 7:00 am – 5:00 pm with Fridays reserved for study days

Residency Program Overview

This three-year residency program provides comprehensive training in all disciplines of veterinary dentistry, including endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, exodontics, prosthodontics, and advanced oral surgery techniques. Residents gain hands-on experience with a wide variety of cases, from fractured teeth and stomatitis to jaw fractures, oral masses, and severe periodontal disease.

As a primarily surgical facility, we perform multiple surgical procedures each day, Monday through Thursday. Consultations are reserved for one clinical day per month. The program is structured for residents to begin with case observation, progressing to independent surgical procedures once educational milestones are met.

The anticipated program start date is January 2027, though a later start date may be accommodated. Please note this may affect credentialing and examination timelines.
